When currently trying to access the Marillion Round Table thread through the link in the Prog Bands, Artists and Genres Appreciation subforum (this one: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=59855&title=the-marillion-round-table), I end up at a page with this displayed:

www.progarchives.com had a problem - Web Server thinks your Browsers request was malformed or contained bad syntax

Why did I get this Error?

The Web Server has analyzed the Browsers request and thinks that it was either corrupted or did not fully conform to HTTP protocol. The problem is most likely related to your Browser. Try restarting (or more seriously re-installing) the Browser or your computer then try accessing the Web Server.

Note - If you have just downloaded your custom error page and testing it locally without a Web Server this is the error you will most likely get.

We suggest you:

Other things to try:

  • Go to www.progarchives.com/forum
  • Search www.progarchives.com:< method="get">< size="40" name="q" id="goog-wm-qt" value="forum posts" ="text">< value="Google Search" id="goog-wm-sb" ="submit">

Extended Information

This error is most likely related to technical problems with your Browser, restarting the Browser or your computer is a good first step. These kinds of errors are usually associated with how your Browser has been programmed, so it is rare to see them in production release Browsers (like Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc).

Common reasons
  • Have you recently installed or upgraded anything on your computer ?
  • If this is an intermittent (that is cannot be reliably repeated) problem then check your connection to the internet
  • If your Browser is using a proxy to connect to the internet it is possible that the proxy is interfering with Browser communicating properly with the Web Server?
Recommended actions

If you have just installed, upgraded or augmented your Browser, then this would indicate that this process has affected the proper operation of your Browser and you may have to re-install, patch, upgrade or roll back to known functioning version.

If your Browser previously worked and nothing has changed perhaps the application itself has become corrupted in memory, which means you will need to either shut down the Browser and restart it, or restart the computer itself.

Did you try to browse to another area of the Web Server to see if this is error is consistent

You might try waiting a little bit then trying again.

If this does not help you might attempt to contact Technical Support who manage Server so they can investigate the Server logs to identify what the problem is.

I've tried 4 browsers (Firefox [my normal browser], Safari, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome) and can't seem to access the page at all.

And it's OK if the link is http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=73524 without any "&title=" .
