Usually the albums that knocked me down at 1st hearing(Wish You Were here,Oxygene,Equinoxe)  remained my favorites along the years, but I always give a 2nd and 3rd chance, especially when an album or band is highly appreciated.In jazz sometimes I need even more listens to get into an album.

Years back I puchased Magma's live Köhntark disc (because the cover was cool) and hated it.  I tried to sell it at another store and they wouldn't buy it from me - told me it was a great album and I'd love it.  I'd taken their recommendations before and they'd been right on.  It took two years before I saw the light - but it became the cornerstone of my whole Magma collection.  I find if I really don't like something, that's what I need to hold on to.  Something in it is affecting me, and that's what art is supposed to do.  It's the ones that bore me immediately I can usually get along without.
