Right & Bravo , but it seems that some fans don't like to mix between music & sence of Humour , like Zappa , and Ian Anderson ! Anyway , since 1971 , i never use headphones to listen to my favorite stuff , i enjoy my music loud in the open , on my Interface D ( electrovoice )

My first progressive album was Octavarium when it first came out in 2005. I was 12 years old and had just started playing guitar and I was already playing the synthesizer. I think prog made me realize that there was a lot more to music than Blink 182 and Bon Jovi!

I play guitar, drums, bass and a bit of synth. Prog is inspiring as a musician because at its core, it's a celebration of genres, different styles of playing and compositions.

And honestly I don't know anyone else who likes it as much as I do. Not even my dad, but one of his good friends was a big fan in the 70s & 80s, and constantly brags about seeing Genesis w/ Gabriel several times, Zepp, Moody Blues, Crimson, Floyd and probably others he hasn't told me. Lucky s.o.b.
It's funny how the colors of the real world only seem really real when you viddy them on the screen.

progressive rock is like a theater. Everything is a bit overplayed. We shouldn't treat this too seriosly. Some people think Yes and Genesis are bloody serious. They don't read between the lines Wink

Bullcrap.  While women are in the minority there are some that enjoy it.  The sad thing is that we do enjoy this music.  What the hell is your problem?  Yeah we like complicated and weird music.  So what?  What a sad tiny little world you live in if you think you can only enjoy it with headphones on. Unhappy

did you read what I wrote? I said SOME people DON'T enjoy this music. They don't understand prog rock. They just play it cos it makes them feel like they are consorting with a true art. It's a kind of snobbing.

Obviously I read what you wrote.  Did you read what I wrote?
Yeah so you qualified your remarks with "some".  OK.  I just disagree that the music is just by men written for men.  And I don't think most of us those that like just like for snob's sake.  And I think that prog isn't just for listening to with your headphones on.  The notion that people listen to prog for snob appeal rather than because they actually like it is absurd.  Having said that, welcome to the forum. LOL

what a real tight mentality my friend ( the disease ) my friend Slarti wasted his time while trying to cure these pages from your disease , cause all girls , ladies , even my mom ( 75 ) enjoys my music since a long time , but i have really to explain some points in this issue to them , and about headphones or earphones ipod mp3's usp's and all stuff around , for God sake who needs this , i have my 500RMS Denon Amp , in addition to my Interface D from Electrovoice ( made in 1978 ) and all my albums in vinyl around me in my room , and don't really care about the world outside concerning music ! and don't you ever be clever in the point of headphones while listening to Progressive music , you only enjoy it for few minutes only and yu'll have a real headache afterwards , i've had the Koss 55sp in ( $245 ) in 1979 , and throw them from the window after a week , have a good day my friend !

it was only an example with those headphones. I wanted to say if you are not able to concentrate on this stuff you can't consider yourself a prog fan. That's all.

I know only one. However she's a huge Rush fan not really interested in other prog. The other ones I know like hard rock or don't listen to rock music at all. Progressive rock is not the best music for women. Women like it simple.

I never answer rhetorical questions! Unless you think that I think that I like progressive music more than anyone else ever. ApproveLOL

Btw the poster who suggested that women like progressive music... I suggest you try her (any her) out on Uduwudu - Magma (Really great prog music IMHO. - the album btw not me, ...but I don't mind...) and see what the (predictably negative) reaction  is. Confused
