I was wondering if it would be a profitable/appealing idea if someone organised a rock festival comprised out of premiere tribute bands. (Obviously they would have to be very high quality ones, the best even, for the concept to have any appeal.) It might not set the world on fire but I think it could be made profitable, particularly by focusing on acts that don't or can't play anymore. You could have a line-up of The Beatles, Queen, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, The Doors and Elvis, or anything else really, the possibilities are endless as long as the acts are willing and they probably are really because tribute acts live by gigging. A festival like this could draw serious attention to their industry. Hearing the catalogues of these bands played in a live setting by acts known for how authentically and well they play it, all in the same night or weekend, could be a pretty amazing experience if handled right.

So anyway, do you think it could work? Or do you think it would be lame and unwanted?
