Hi everyone Big smile
We are BunChakeze but most of you don't know us yet. Maybe some of you have seen us on the front page for the last few days? http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=30453
No? Aargh!!
We have a simple request guys. We are the only prog band in the quarter final of this competition and we need support there. We think we can get through to the semi finals, where we would be judged by Bob and co. THAT would be an interesting conversation to hear.
The problem is that even though our song is good enough to win by far, we are up against some long established pop artists, which seems a bit weird really. They can get votes!
If you can spare a couple of minutes, please go to Star http://www.youbloom.com/  Star and register and vote!
A nice easy way to push some prog into the mainstream. I like that idea!
Go to PÅ front page and listen to "Whose Dream?" first if you like. It's the competition entry.
Cheers
Colin Tench

A couple of those other bands weren't too bad - but in the end my vote had to go for you guys. Thumbs Up

Hello Colin,

I voted for BunChakeze in the YouBloom contest. There is absolutely no comparison between your fantastic instrumentals and that bubble gum pop/rock from your competitors Confusedwhich I suppose people call it music nowadays. Your music is superior by a long shot Clap. What upsets me is that unlike you guys your competitors have backing of corporations with PR people, however I really hope people check it out and vote for the music in order for you guys to win with enough votes.

Good luck.

Thanks Steven! Don't get me wrong, I'd love the contest to be full of great musicians and be kind of interesting but some of those at the top are heavily backed artists with money.  Paid top producers and rented musicians doesn't really do much for me. anyway if I had 30+ years as a pro, I wouldn't be in such a competition. I just wish it was a level playing field. It never has been really has it. That's the story of prog and how it was culled. Ha ha.
I hope you liked what you heard of us because when I get the real cds, I'll be looking for reviews. If you didn't, I'll ask someone else. Big smile
Be seeing you

Thankyou again!Smile
I will let you know for sure. 3 weeks I hope. It feels like a long time!
I wish this thread had found more takers but I don't know the secret of protecting prog against the music business. Always a tricky on that. Maybe there is a better place to put my message. You found it! We are still looking good tho'.

Steven and Kati
You were the only ones who found this post and the only ones who gave prog a little push in the bad world of pop music. The amazing thing is that we came 1st! We actually beat 23 others and are now under the scrutiny of Bob Geldorf and 3 other music experts. If we get past them, we WILL need help in the final on 11th october. If you have any ideas how to get noticed here, it would be very helpful. I would personally love to see a prog band win this kind of thing and get some attention. I don't mean we are the greatest but we do have a song entered that has substance.  Thankyou for voting. It's all very exciting now.

Hey Colin - not too sure what you can do to get a bit more notice here. Other than spread the music and hope people love it! Once you have your cds in hand, if you are able to send a few off for review, seeing some of the well respected reviewers take notice of your album couldn't hurt. You've already got some pretty good reviews from Epignosis, Marty, and AtomicCrimsonRush, so you're off to a good start on that front.

Hey Colin,

Damn right a prog rock band must win! It would open doors for everyone, all other bands too! That would be amazing!

You guys are doing fantastic! Instrumentals brilliant! I love it! I listen to the album over and over again, it seems others around me love it too and no I did not threaten them ha ha ha. As I previously mentioned I tend to listen to instrumentals and not the lyrics ever and can never remember them because my ear is much more inclined to the magical notes. I can hum any tune you like lol. This time wow even my female friends listened and felt excited listening to the guitar, drums and base ha ha ha ha.. never thought that would happen as I was always the odd one out in terms of music taste with female friends no wonder I only went to concerts with male friends lol. Hey BunChakeze just proved that there is a bigger audience out there and thank you for that. Prog Rock needs to come back big time, real music, real bands. Yes thank you!

Unhappy
I'm here to let you know that we have let the side down. In the youbloom semi finals, the judges smelt a rat I think. They noticed us trying to sneak a 4 minute song into their final. We almost got away with it. The weird chord changes didn't help a great deal either.
Pop and the world at large is safe and we are out!

Oh they won't forget us in a hurry angelo. We made sure of it. Ha ha!!
I know you don't do many reviews but if you'd like to know why we're so rubbish in the ears of those who know things,  I'll send you a cd and take the risk that you'll hate us too.
Cheers
