Hiya everyone! This thought has been in my head for a while so I might
as well post it at the only place it could be! I've been wondering what
video games have "Prog" music for the soudtrack or whatever.
Before I was introduced to Prog I always thought that the battle music in 'Final Fantasy 8' was just lame.... but many years after I decided to play it and discovered that the music is actually not bad and defenitely sounds Progressive in my opinion. I know that some Prog artists (Alan White, Trevor Rabin....) have done music for games but I'm not sure if the fit into the catagory. So if anyone has anything they want to add or say feel free to!! Well, Rush's One Little Victory is used for "Need For Speed-Hot Pursuit 2" |

Ray Schulman (bassist/multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire of Gentle Giant) has done music for a few games.

Homeworld, the PC game has Yes music in it and Roger Dean influenced graphics.

Nobuo Uematsu (of Final Fantasy fame) has quite a progressive sound,
and although I don't play the games anymore, I still periodically tune
into the soundtracks. Dancing Mad is a 17 minute song full of organ,
with an ending in vein of ELP

"Mister Fripp, your music is quite different than everything else out there. In one word, how would you describe it?"
"Progressive.... yeah, that's it..." |

I have to say a lot of Prog bands especially Space Rock bands really do sound like the music in Halo 2

silent hill soundtracks are immense.
4 games. Each one has 2 discs. disc 1 is the official soundtrack tunes that last over an hour and play as one big piece, sometimes with lyrics. disc 2 is all the horrific ambient sounds that occur whilst walking around the town. |

really, halo 2's soundtrack has elevated music in games from what it's high point was (Final Fantasy Series) to the next echelon. it is absolutely amazing. and if it ever were in the Archives (which is not a bad idea, i don't know if there is a soundtrack section, though) it would get 5 stars from me. Halo 2 is a very good game. |

Halo 2 has a truly phenominal soundtrack. Unfortunately, it's let down
by the comparatively lame Breaking Benjamin and Incubus songs that were
randomly thrown in. blah
