I think its a software issue....I used to use Groovemechanic to rip my vinyl to PC, remove pops, hiss, clicks and such. The software would rip the whole album as one track, then I would manually separate into individual tracks. I remember there was an option of GAP to add 0 or 2 second gap...depending on the album source I added or not. DSOTM...when I did that one I added 0 GAP time so the songs changed seemlessly, no iteruption.
Today I get 90% of my music using Zune Marketplace....in the past 2 yrs they added a fix for "Gapless Playback", as the original Zune software added 1-2 sec gap on everything. It works very well now as when I download albums off the Marketplace that should be "Gapless Playback", they play with no interuption.
Now because all these files are digital files, all separate, there always will be this millisecond gap that exists as one file finishes and another starts.....Some say they can notice it....I don't.
I don't think digital downloading of albums will ever be like vinyl, which is one continuos sound groove.
That's the beauty of vinyl record albums.
