I know someone posted something about this recently, but the search engine does not find any threads with "faust" in the title which were made in the last 6 months. So I'll open this thread because I think this is important.
The legendary Krautrock group Faust is planning to release what the band says will be its final album. Faust is Last will arrive in late May, nearly 40 years after the band made their self-titled debut in 1971. Faust is Last’s press release describes the album as “A music that seems to come out of nowhere, sonic descriptions rather than songs.” [FactMag.com] |

Out of left field for me...though I don't keep up with Faust news. Shame to hear...guess that means I should get it.

I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect. |

In fact, it's the last album of ONE of the Faust - the Faust of Hans-Joachim Irmler.
The Faust of Zappi Dermaier and Jean-Hervé Peron will go on. |

Whenever people say something is going to be their final work, it almost invariably never is.
It's usually just to encourage people to buy it.

This news passed me by at the time, but thanks for those links. If that sample is anything to go by then I much prefer the 'other' Faust, even though their latest album is far from perfect. That track is repetitive and aggressive but somehow rather hollow. It's nowhere near as new and exciting as it wants to be.
