Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth (yeah, right) and taste (he-he)...

Even though I've been visiting this site for many months now, I've never taken the time to register and take an active part in my proguverse (thats Progressive Universe). I'm Nipsey and I'm from the Washington DC area in the good old US of A. My love for progressive rock began at age 9 when I heard Natural Science by Rush at a friend's house. "What was this incredible music?", I wondered.  It  had lots of instrumental 'fiddly bits' that I had never heard before. Since that day I have sought out prog rock in every form, be it art rock, RIO, fusion, Canterbury, symphonic, etc.. Heck, I even became a gluttonous fan of bebop jazz, Miles, Trane, Mingus... So anyhoo, I've been spying on your forums and as I have the time (life takes a bite, don't it?), I will be commenting, editorializing, B*$#@ing, and generally making a pest of myself. He-he.

Favorite prog bands:

Genesis (Gabriel), Marillion (Fish), GG (If you have to ask, then you don't know), Rush (the first band I EVER saw live), Tull, Caravan, Porcupine Tree, Transatlantic, etc...

Currently listening to:

Porcupine Tree - Deadwing
Wigwam - Fairyport
Locanda Delle Fate - Forse Le Lucciole Non Si Amano Piu (man am I gettin' into this Italian stuff)
Zappa - 200 Motels
Nektar - Recycled (saw these guys live recently...awesome)

maybe you should try to to use words that have never been used before; something like "misaguthroatalated", that would make your posts very, very special.  otherwise you're right, your a legend of the lexicon.

To Spectral:

I saw Caravan open for Nektar at the Birchmere in Arlington VA, Caravan ruled, and Nektar played all their hits (such as they are) from Recycled, Remember The Future, and Tab in the Ocean. Sounded great. As far as as which original members were in the band I dont know. Great show all around. I'm afraid I had too many Jagermeisters to remember what songs were played specifically, but I had a great time.

And by the way...we are all nerds. Prog rock is not a hip mans game. At least not since 1969.

The funny thing is the first band I ever played in, at age 12 (bass guitar), actually covered the entire Fountain of Lamneth. If you can picture a band full of prepubescent boys covering Rush epics, then you can imagine how funny it was.

Oh and BTW, totally off topic, I saw the Flower Kings last night for the first time. Small crowd, maybe 150 people, but the band put on a hell of a show. Played for 2 and a half hours and actually made me weep (Stardust We Are). Incredible.
