Hello :-)
The first Burntwood Festival will take place on 9/10th October, at the 2000 capacity Brentwood centre, Essex. Brentwood means 'Burntwood' in olde English. The weekend will comprise of 1 day of 'wyrd folk' , Trader Horne reforming for that show + many more, and one day of prog. The headliners are agreed subject to contract for the prog day, and will be announced in early April. (Its a tremendous booking..) The prog show will feature 12/14 bands across 2 stages, and is compered by snooker main man, and prog enthusiast Steve Davis, who is helping put the bill together. The show is a fundraiser for local radio station Phoenix FM, where Steve has a prog show, I'm sure a few of you have listened to. I can make our first announcement, Comus are confirmed on the bill, with 10+ more bands of that quality to come. There are some pretty cool sponsors including Burning Shed.. Ticket prices will be very sensible, travel and accomodation is very easy, the venue lends itself to this type of show perfectly. You might want to keep that weekend free. I'll keep you informed as we go. Cheers, Jon. Edited by Burntwood Festival - March 26 2010 at 14:12 |

Does anyone have any more information on this event? The only Burntwood Festival I can find is a folk bash in Staffordshire, and the website for the Brentwood Centre has no events scheduled for 9th./10th. October this year. I need to know 'cos it's my Mum's birthday that weekend, but I am not missing Comus!

This is still happening and there should be an official announcement soon. Unofficially, nothing has changed from the above!

That sounds good and Brentwood is just down the road from me. Nothing on the Brentwood Centre web site for that weekend yet.

Well thats just fanbloodytastic!! Bang go my flights!! Was really looking forward to seeing Comus.
It must be so frustrating for Comus to have to deal with such muppets! Ill have to keep an eye out for an upcomng gig, hopefully one soon to cheer me up! |

THAT'S what you get when you deal with snooker-players.

Well, it was always looking doubtful as it was never on the Brentwood Centre's schedule. Shame, as it's just down the road from me.

I'd love to have seen Comus and Trader Horne, oh well. Steve Davis apparently lost quite a bit of money promoting a Magma tour. Probably ought to stick to snooker.
