I remember when I was, must have been 13 or 14, maybe 15.... my dad gets us Napster (the new pay service with the same name as the old pirating thing. Suddenly I could listen to new stuff! My favorite bands were Pink Floyd and Rush, and now I could click on the little links and I could listen to all these new bands ... Alan Parsons Project, Genesis, Yes!!! I can't emphasize enough what a huge impact having this sort of access to music has had on my life. So obviously I'm a partisan for Napster. But I know there are all sorts of music services out there, Itunes, Zune, Rhapsody, etc. etc. etc.

Which one do you use, which is the best, and if you don't use one, why not? Tongue

Since I'm not in the U.S., Napster is the only flatrate service available to me ... and I like it. But I'm also using eMusic.com a lot, which is an affordable mp3 download store that works on the basis of monthly subscriptions (for example, I pay 30 EUR a month and in turn can download 100 tracks which I then can keep indefinitely). They have a good collection of prog albums - last year InsideOut disappeared though (because of SPV going out of business), that was a major blow.

For me its Zune Marketplace. I have had a Zune Pass since the Zune came out in 2006, I had looked at other online music stores and subscription accounts, and this one struck me as much better.
I can generally find all the artists I need. The usual suspects tho are not available for digital download like AC/DC, Beatles, Led Zeppelin (only purchase). The record companies are still trying to figure out how to make money with online subscription.......Eventually I think everything will be availble online.

I can download all I want for a flat fee, if I like something then I usually buy it or go ahead and buy the album or mp3 online. With the Zune Pass you do get 10 free downloads per month, so that helps keep the actual cost down below US$10 per month.
As much as I like to explore new music this is the best service fro me.
