Can it be that this has not been announced? Home's legendary album THE ALCHEMIST is about to be re-released on CD:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Alchemist-Home/dp/B0035KGDRG/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I3ZSNWXGNW7JP&colid=1TXU9FHDP5CJT For me, at least, this sounds like great news. I've got some excellent memories of hearing this album back in the 1970s. I wonder if it still stands up! |

^ Well con-gra-tu-la-tions dudes, but neither of you posted a separate message concerning THE ALCHEMIST and THE ALCHEMIST alone. And you know what? Home are well worth it!

Excellent concept album. It has already been released on CD of course, but well worth a listen. For those unfamilar with the band (from the early 70's), their line up included Laurie Wiseman, later of Wishbone Ash.

^ It may have appeared before, but it hasn't been available for at least four years, at least not through the regular channels. That's why I'm glad it has now been re-released. I remember it used to sound great, and your review, Easy Livin, has convinced me I should now order a copy! I just hope something has been preserved of the artwork. If I remember it well the LP had a gatefold sleeve, with lyrics and illustrations inside...

Nice to hear this is finally being re-released. I managed to buy an official copy of the cd on eBay a couple of years ago, after years of searching. Cost me a fair few bob, but well worth it. However I think I actually prefer the self-titled second Home album. Think I'm right in saying it was released as a twofer along with Pause For A Hoarse Horse a year or so ago. Not keen on Pause, but I would recommend that second album to budding Home fans.
