Just wondering if anyone may know where one could learn how to play peter Gabriel flute passages or where one might acquire the sheet music for such songs (for flute).

There are MIDI files (*.mid) or PDF files all over the Internet. The PDF files are readable, but for the MIDI files you need some program that may turn them into written music. Any sequencer or notation program will do this, but they may need a lot of cleaning before being usable. I've got most of them, but I haven't checked them properly, and they are not cleaned up.

^ Seriously.

Flute is basic enough that I would think only a little time spent tinkering around with it would produce the proper results you seek, Canprog.

Then again, I tinker around on all instruments, and that's how I write music. Perhaps I'm just conditioned to approach music in that way, and in fact flute is much more complex than I'm giving it credit right now. If that is the case, my apologies.

^ I'm thinking Gabriel's flute work was simple enough that he should be able to figure it out.  I'm a dabbler myself, but haven't fiddled about with any wind instruments in quite a while.  As I recall the one I was best at was a kazoo. LOL

Honestly, if I was able to start playing (not terribly well mayhaps, and with a little huffing and puffing in between) a jazzed-up "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," I can't conceive of the flute being that hard to play. Now trumpet, there's something I couldn't quite figure out...

The Gabriel parts are pretty straightforward, if memory serves. With a flute, and a decent set of earphones, you should be able to figure it out.

Well, for Firth of Fifth try this for the start...  G, F#, G, F#, B, C, F#(Low), G(Low)

It's pretty easy, was one of the first things I learnt on flute
