Hi guys, We are Distant Dream, and are proud to unveil our first full-length concept music album!! 'A New Beginning' is set in the fantasy land of Basilea in an unknown era. The story begins with Kyren, a trader, who stops at Basilea for a night, and his chance encounter with a barmaid. The events through the night turn into a life-altering experience for Kyren, who realizes that life is what one makes of it. The genre of music is rock with a progressive feel, particularly influenced by blues, jazz, soft/hard rock and metal. Hope it is well received. Happy listening! |

Very intersting! I quite enjoy the atmosphere you guys create with the music. Particularly "Searching For An Angel". I also have to agree with topographic on the visuals of the website. Not only are they great in and of themselves, but they really suit the music too. |

dtrules, A very slick, professional project, I have to say. Good luck to you and the other 21 "core members" of the team. I hope the album sells well. Just one suggestion: rather than asking non-US buyers of the CD to contact you via the Web site, it would probably encourage international sales if you specified the cost of international P&P. It can't be too difficult for you to settle on one - or a few - standard prices for P&P on international orders. I applaud your concept (album wise, and marketing wise). The story, albeit somewhat saccharine (sorry ) is sufficiently captivating to have made me read it, and I think the lyrics and the music fit the story well. The music is well-written and very professionally played, with some catchy tunes. And the Web site is a joy. Zoye's appearance (white Caucasian) is very oriented to a white US/European audience, though, isn't she? Was that a conscious decision in order to appeal to a Western audience? Speaking personally, a dusky brunette would have been equally welcome (with faces like e.g. Aishwarya Rai, Asia has no need to look to the West). Oh, another very minor suggestion: You might like to change the Web site slightly so that it is possible to read the story 'chapter' on each page without losing the streaming music. At the moment if I click on MORE the page changes and the music is interrupted (unless I right-click on MORE and open the new page in a new window, that is). Wishing you every success.

Fitzcarraldo, Thanks for your comments! I appreciate them! Our CD is now available via CD Baby (www.cdbaby.com/cd/distantdream) and they should be able to ship internationally. This was a recent development and is now posted on our website in the store section. Glad you liked the story, music and rest of the stuff. Yeah the story is somewhat saccharine in parts, but in general we wanted a dark theme in a strange land, but with some hope and positive feelings. Hopefully we have achieved that through our album. Regarding Zoye, actually we wanted to make her "raceless". Her skin if you notice is kinda dusky, but her hair is red and her eyes are green. I guess she does kinda look european in some senses but you will find a bunch of Indian girls who look like that (minus the red hair though!). We wanted to create a timeless, placeless land with people who don't belong to one race or another. That's why we haven't mentioned where Basilea is, or what era this story happens in. Thanks again for all your feedback. It really helps and encourages us.

Thanks progfan! We appreciate it! Basilea is a fantasy land and does not belong to any country. :) Also, could you give us the URL where you have published the review? Thanks a lot! |

VERY VERY NICE!!!
Currently listening to "Conflict". This is a great song! Hard and melodic all at once. I am a big fan of Dream Theater and this is very very good stuff. Very impressive cast of musicians! Much luck in the future and wish I would have heard of you all while I was working in Michigan. Your CD will be a much anticipated addition to my collection. Hats off to you Web Design Crew! Ric |
