Hey there fellow musicians!  I am having a little problem with my amp.  I think the reason is because the tubes need to be replaced (I got the amp a little over 3 years ago and still haven't replaced them) but I would like to get some insight before I go to a store and look like a dope Smile! 
 
So yeah, whenever I play with heavier distortion (particularly when palm-muting) I hear a rattling sound coming from the inside of the amp.  Along with that, I hear a bit of fuzziness with the heavier distortion on as well.  And before all that started being noticeable, every once in a while my amp would just for no reason fade out to eventually mute.  Now I didn't think much of this because it only happened 3 or 4 times, and after I turned the power off and then back on again, the problem was fixed.  Looking back, I probably should have investigated the problem further! 
 
So there's my problem, if somebody can confirm my suspicions I would be very appreciative!
 
Oh also the amp is a Marshall JCM 1000 TSL 122 combo if that helps at all!

So you get distortion when you play with distortion? Gheez, what could it be.

Seriously though, could be a lot of things, and I'd like to hear the sound first. you could have some hardware broken inside it, basically in pieces. Have you rammed it hard onto something by accident? Or there might be some parts detached that are flying about, Figurately speaking of course.

Just take it to a store and have it repaired ... the tubes are worn, that's a rather typical phenomenon.

I go with Mike. Unless you're knowledgeable enough to feel comfortable in putting your hands near a few 100 watts of electricity, bring it to a shop.
