If you've got some free time on your hands, please check out my Facebook page.  The first two tracks on the music player are my first two songwriting efforts in a somewhat-proggy style, à la Muse.  These are pretty rough demos, with no real instruments, done in GarageBand (ergo, no guitar, which I don't play and is hard to write for on a keyboard).  The absence of guitar makes it a bit awkward at times, most notably in "Sum Ergo Cogito" during the sections with just (simple) bass and drums, which should have guitar solos.

"Sum Ergo Cogito" was actually a final project for a high school creative writing class.  We were tasked with writing a poem and doing something related in some other medium.  As a musician, the choice was obvious: set the poem to music.  The vocals (me) were recorded on a crappy mic, so if you want to see the lyrics, I can post them.

"Song Idea #1" is my first serious songwriting effort.  I'm especially proud of the opening section, which is in 7/4, divided into 7/8 + 7/8 in the bass, 3 x 2/4 + 2/8 in the drums, and groups of three (big) beats in the Mellotron (for a time).  I have written a first verse, which parallels the bassline in the opening section, and I can post the lyrics if anyone wants to see them.

Let me know what you think either here in this thread or on the Facebook wall.  Oh, and if you like it, please fan my page!  Constructive criticism welcome. Big smile
