Hi, this is César Inca. I've just come across this Norwegian band named TRIO, whose music is a sophisticated sort of jazz-rock with lots of psychedelic and heavy prog touches: their Myspace blog is at http://www.myspace.com/triogroup
While this band is clearly focused n the jazz thing mainly, the thing is that they go beyond your typical jazz or jazz-rock stereotype, having enough eclecticism as to be fit for a PA entry in the jazz-rock area. They are in the same league as Attention Deficit, for example.
I'm not sure if this band has been brougt about around here, but here I am talking about them. A positive review about their debut album is at http://www.abstractlogix.com/reviews_view.php?idno=235
Thank you for your attention.

Well ok for the jazz-rock/fusion side of their music, with some unending jams to make them last longer. But these guys lack terribly of humility : "We felt that our planet was drenched by 2/4 or 4/4 beat. You can hear it in jazz, classical, pop, folk music, blues, rock etc. What ever genre we listen to, counted the four or eight beat. That's why we wanted to do something completely different. We thought that our music could bring a new approach." They forget that many people played and play the same kind of music...many of them on a higher level.

Keep in mind that regarding the llack of humility, people like NATIONAL HEALTH, HENRY COW and even VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR (in their earliest days) made quite pretentious statements about the music (great music) they had to offer to the world.
Kind regards.

That's why people have such disdain towards prog artists...see the thread about British people towards prog. However, in the heydays of prog, I would understand such statement as they were quite innovative in their respective genre but 30 years later it seems quite inappropriate as in the meantime tons of bands played this kind of stuff : I mean it sounds as if these guys wouldn't pay any tribute to the great names of jazz-fusion and would consider they are pioneering in the genre.
