 Topic: Any Moody Blues Fans/Blue Jays ??

Any other big Moody Blues fans here? Seems like us Moodies fans
are dying out. Guess it's up to us younger guys to keep them
alive! I read an earlier post by someone who said "Blue Jays" was
the lost moodies album. That was the first time I heard someone
else say what I have always thought since the first time I heard that
album. It truly stands up there with any of the "Classic 7",
maybe even be the 2nd or 3rd best of that group of 8. If you have
seen them recently though, even I as the most hardcore fan have to
admit they are LOOKING pretty old, though they still sound very good.
Any other Moodies fans out there (I know your'e out there
somewhere!).......Jeff

Well, it depends how you interpret the word 'fan'. If fandom means appreciating the whole career of a band up to the present, and being willing to see them live etc - then I'm not a fan of Moody Blues or actually anything for that matter.
From Blue Jays I've heard those tracks that were in "Time Traveller" box. Yes, seems to stand up with the Classic 7 which I enjoy very much and which have raised MB as one of my long-time favourites. But MB in their later poppish decades is not pleasing me.

They're one of my favourite bands, so yeah I'm a cultist.
I might develop new interests or explore new areas, but I often end up coming back to the Moodies.
I only tend to listen to the Core 7, but there's the odd song after that like 'Painted Smile' or 'The Day We Meet Again'. Great band!
What's your favourite song or album?
My favourite album of theirs is definitely To Our Children's.... - so mellow and space-ish...and that mellotron... 
Recently though, I've been listening to a lot of the House of Four Doors/Legend of a Mind song cycle - I admit to being a psychedelia fan

I'm a great admirer of the Moodies. I find it hard to listen past the "7" but I am always interested to know what they are up to in the music world. TMCCC is a sentimental favourite as is Seventh Sojourn. What I really like about the Moodies is that they appeal to a wide audience - a sign of great band I think

Big fan- I'm one of the only people who ever mentions Mellotron genius Pinder during the "best keyboardist" discussions. 
And, like most, I'm mainly a fan of the classic seven...though it was "Wildest Dreams" as much as "Nights in White Satin" that got me into the band when I was a youngster. They were the first prog concert I ever went to, as well (they rocked, BTW, though they were already starting to look old even then ).

Yeah, Pinder's mellotron is awesome, especially in 'In Search of the Lost Chord' where it created the symphonic sound in place of the orchestra which was present throughout 'Days of Future Paased'.

Count me in MB68.
Bluejays was indeed worthy of inclusion with the magnificent 7.
It's a pity Ray Thomas has been forced into retirement, his contribution to the band has always been under-rated. I'd love to see him do a solo album of covers of some of the MB's best songs.

I only really listen to "DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED" ---- but wow --- what an album that is!!! I absolutley love it. As groundbreaking as anything by KC or Yes! Great Album. Hats off to the MB's

Well, the Moodies were my third prog band (after ELP and Crimson), so yeah, I love them. Again, the 7 are what I listen to.

their best album in my eyes is "question of balance" and thrir best cuts are "legend of a mind" & " the voyage".

Favorite album it's a toss up between Days Of Future Passed and
TOCCC. I too like "The Day We Meet Again!" Outside those 2
I would say "Blue Jays" and "Seventh Sojourn" would be second. As
for solo works, not a lot that is GREAT but Hayward's "View From The
Hill", and Mike Pinders "Among The Stars" are pretty good and Hayward's
"Live In San Juan Capistrano" IS GREAT!, really worth getting that
