She is a superb looking dame, though!!!
Wow, that's twice I agree with Mike!!
Really M@X, they are sometimes very tacky as well.
I mean "Customize your Zwinky", "Find Your Ukraine Date", "Find Your Love Match"
Ya gotta be kidding, here!!!!!!!

Oh wait, now I never should have used or not really actually used an ad blocker. Wish there were more music related ad buyers even if not prog or officially prog. Some have been particularly annoying particularly if they inject sound. Edited by Slartibartfast - February 06 2009 at 15:32 |

Thanks ProgFreak, i'll have a look into your web host in Germany and let you know my comments.
About the un-related ads, i just re-check and the network i use for non-us,non-uk,non-canada traffic delivers thoses unrelated ads, i'll try to remove them. Thanks for reporting |

^^^ I don't mind listening to Shakira (at work, in a restaurant/club etc), let alone watching/viewing pictures of her. Just not on a prog website ... it's kind of distracting.

It's probably not suitable for you - they also specialize in Linux, and you'll need Windows for ASP and SQL Server - but it might be interesting to compare the specs and pricing.
I guess you're torn between showing many unrelated ads (generating revenue from ad views) or few, but highly related ads (generating revenue from ad clicks). |

They don't offer Windows dedicated servers ;-( Anyway, it now cost almost 1000$ US/month to host Progarchives.com, the forum and the mp3 streaming server. Sounds like ads are here to stay, or we become a private website and ask for a membership fee ! Other suggestions ? |

I've removed the ads from the ValueClick networks for non-us (uk+canada) visitors so that Google do the delivers.
It's suppose to be more related, please report and comments here. Thanks |

If the ads pay the dues then we should just keep quiet about you know what. |

$1000/month seems very expensive. I have just been searching for some moodle hosting and found the American companies to be the cheapest. But, I suppose with 3 servers and the amount of bandwidth needed...
Keep the ads- who takes any real notice of them anyway? If that's what it takes to keep the site going I'm sure nodoby has any real complaints.

Must've worked M@X!!
Now I get a "Find You newest Viet Beauty", and other" Dress your manga heroes" and the hideous Bite Fight game adds
Butythe Shakira add has disppeared
I mean I accept the Muziek Metropool in Antwerp adds or the grind-metal T-shirt (shiroi niko) site adds, but the ones like I mentioned above......
Thanks for trying...

Going through the active users list, I laugh every time I see people still using IE 5/6 and Firefox 1 and 2.
I mean, seriously, do they not know updated versions exist? I update my browser as soon as each update comes and unlike the poor sodding ancient IE version users, I use IE 8 as a backup when Firefox doesn't work or when Firefox decides to be retarded and not let myspace work properly. I do enjoy the Firefox 3.0.6 experience more than IE 8, but both are good browsers really, and IE 8 is vastly improved over the older versions and much quicker too so it's quite handy to use when Firefox quits on me which for some reason it decides it must do every few weeks for 24 hours periods at a time UPDATE YOUR DAMN BROWSERS PEOPLE, NEWER VERSIONS EXIST. I use the IE8 I installed last fall
As for Mozilla it's also installed (forget which version), but I'm lazy and don't like new things. It's a uestion of habits.

I use Firefox with Adblock and NoScript installed and view the PA website clean of any ads. I don't like ads 'cos they spoil the experience for me. Personally, I'd prefer to pay a membership fee.

Hey now, give them a break. After all, they're all still living in the 70s. They'll catch up to the brilliance of Firefox in 30 years or so. |

Hahaha, IE 5 and Firefox 1, I never noticed that before. How old a computer do you have to be on to have to run IE 5?

Shhh, we should not be talking about you know what. Actually though, I don't know if this thing could be set up as free with ads or pay a little for none and maybe some bonus features, but I would consider it as I do enjoy hanging out here. Of course at this point that thing of which we shall not speak kind of makes it moot. And implementation at this point in the game would certainly prove difficult.
