Topic: Review problems Posted: December 29 2008 at 04:49 |
I have two problems.
1. I reviewed Death Magnetic by Metallica. Before it the average rating was 3.33 with 33 reviewers (I own a picture of this state). After my 2-star rating it increased to 3.40. HOW could an under-average rating increase the average???
2. A few months earlier I gave Supermassive Black Hole (Muse) 1 star. My first review was under 100 words, so I asked Atkingani to delete it so that I can gave an additional paragraph. I did it, the program accepted it as a review (more, than 100 words). But some time later I realised that it became a simple rating. Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance!

Odd - I don't know why that happened - I agree that the average with 33 reviews was displayed 3.33 (as seen in the Google cache) - but doing an off-line calculation it should have been 3.44.
3.40 with 34 reviews is an accurate number.

The database entry for your review of this Single is dated 11/4/2008 4:57:16 PM and the Comments (review) field is blank.
I think there is a discrepancy as to the minimum number of words required - I believe it is 200 not 100 as shown on the review entry box.

Thank you, Dean!
Could you give me a favour with deleting that rating, so that I can write more additional paragraphs? Edited by Diaby - December 29 2008 at 07:49 |

I had something similar yet different happen. I was loooking at an album that I had given 4 stars and the only other reviewer had given 2, and yet the average was 2.60 or something like that. I thought it might have to do that I did review before I had become a reviewer officially, so I edited my review, changed something back to itself and reposted. It made the average 3.0 which is correct. weird.

For some reason, the quotation marks in my review of BOC's "Tyranny and Mutation" didn't show up. |

Yeah, those haven't shown up in a long time. I usually use two ' s.
Why don't they, though? |

they show up if you copy the contents before posting, then you edit the review and replace it with the contents of the original review. I've been doing that for over a year. Don't know why this problem exists

^^^But Albert wouldn't be able to do that because only reviewers, collabs and specials have access to edit their own reviews.

I don't know. My SBH review turned into a simple rating AGAIN! Please help me!
And it shouldn't matter if it's under 200 characters – my Death Magnetic review is only 182, but still remains the same...

I don't know. My SBH review turned into a simple rating AGAIN, for the second time now! Please help me!
And it shouldn't matter if it's under 200 characters (as Dean said in another thread) – my Death Magnetic review is only 182, but still remains the same...
I have to think that the album don't wanna go under 2.50, 'cos over 2.50 the site shows the sentence "Good, but non-essential".

Ágoston, I have no explanation of why your review isn't being saved - I can assure you there is no underhand subterfuge going on (if there was then your 1-star would be ignored too ) PM me your review of Supermassive Black Holes and I'll manually paste into your rating.
ps: 200 words, not characters.
