Camel is a pleasant listen, but that's it for me.

My thoughts , exactly.
I ve been geeting into Camel beyond their first four albums and there were 2 of them which were really good , Nude and Dust & Dreams. But I haven't heard A Nod and a Wink yet.
They could have been a much better band with Richard Sinclair from the beggining so Latimer doesn't have to sing.
Suming up Camel is an exellent addition to your prog musical collection.

I have all their albums from Camel to Rain Dances in my PC. I like them but it's like there's something missing in their music to got me really into it. The sung parts are usually a bit boring in my opinion, that's probably it. My favourite album is Moonmadness.

I bought Snow Goose about a week ago, and kind of like it. Something's kind of missing though, and I don't know what...
Maybe it just needs its time...

Yeah, that's probably why I thought it was just okay too.

I actually quite quickly got into Camel. My favourites are Mirage and the Snow Goose.

Many won't agree with me but I rate Dust and Dreams, Harbour of Tears and A nod and a Wink the best of the Camel albums although I do enjoy their earlier work as well. Loved them for the past 25 odd years. The first album of theirs that I owned was Raindances and the next - The Snowgoose. |
A Nod and a Wink is for me their best album.

Mirage is easily the best that they released. Breathless or The Single Factor are probably the worst, but I'm not a fan of anything released after Nude or before Rajaz.
I Can See Your House From Here is their most underrated release. It's not nearly as bad as it's rep.

I got into Camel about two months ago. I stumbled across them on last.fm and yesterday I picked up Camel, Mirage, Moonmadness, and The Snow Goose. I've been working my way through these albums and I really love what I've been hearing. I can't wait to become more familiar with the material. As of now Mirage is my favorite.

I love Moonmadness. Classic prog album. But Camel have other very cool albums such as Raindances, Camel, Breathless and Nude. They are my fave 5 Camel albums. I really enjoy several songs on I can see your house from here too. Snowgoose is fairly good too after a number of listens. I love Nimrodel and Supertwister, but the rest of Mirage is fairly dated and overrated imo

I discovered Camel in 1984 when i bought Stationary Traveller album after listening one song on the radio, then i looked for their 70's albums and since then is one of my favourite bands. The best ones for me are
1. Mirage
2. Snow Goose
3. Moonmadness
I think their weakest albums are: I can see you house from here (with the exception onf the great Ice), Harbour of tears and A nod and a wink.
Andy Latmer is a great guitar player with a caracteristic sound, hope he gets better to see him play alive again.

A bunch of years ago a friend sent me the song beached from nude as an mp3. I was a big fan of synth music and my fav band was goblin. But for some reason it didnt click the first time i heard it. It was good but i didnt feel like looking up who made it. The day after i relistened to it and it instantly made me google em. I found this site and listened to the songs avaible here. After that i downloaded their discography, ate it up. And now ive slowly been buying their albums aswell as the solo albums by its members.
My fav album is Mirage. But after that it becomes hard to rank em. There are so many great ones like the other 3 of their first 4 albums. Nude and stationery traveler. Harbour of tears and a nod and a wink. Its all sooooo good.
Bottom 3 goes 1: I can see your house from here(More prog then single factor, but i still like the single factor abit more) 2: The single factor (by far their most poppy album. Got afew good songs but overall it doesnt feel anything like camel) 3: Dust and dreams (havnt heard this album in ages so maybe ill change my mind about it if i hear it again. Its one of the few albums i have yet to buy).
Overall i would say even those 3 albums are 2.5 out of 5 stars in my book.

You are in for quite a treat! This is the best album of the Latimer/Bardens collaboration period, IMO...
