Cheers Dean - had a look at that too, although couldn't vote, I do play guitar but not Prog (unless you count folk solos!), as I say I just want to relax and listen and not be distracted by trying to play it in my head.

Thanks for all your replies guys, though I'm a bit surprised that there are so few - are there really not many musicians out there?
Am intending to check out some of your links, but I'm stuggling for time at the moment

Interesting thought about playing music from a different genre and not trying to play Prog - then you can relax more when you listen to it - you're not trying to think how to play it!

Keep sending in the replies - interesting stuff!Smile

Well, you asked about who is in a prog band, and not "who are musicians", so of course, you would have got less replies.
I'm a musician, and I imagine it's fairly well known at PA I'm a guitarist.
I'm currently not in a band at all (and haven't been for over a month and it was more just rock/metal cover songs, nothing in the prog realm).
I can play 'prog' songs on guitar, like some prog metal stuff, but I'm not sure if that counts as being a prog musician as such, especially when you consider when I play those songs, I see it as playing a metal song and don't really approach it from the 'prog' angle if that makes sense.
If the fact I can play prog metal on guitar makes me a prog musician to you, then I have no problems with that, but it's up to you reallyWink

Dude !

I've started to try and listen through some of all your links.  Toxic Mind is very good, but the link to Porcelain didn't seem to work.   Listening to Altiac right now.....

New forum member here though been a longtime browser of the main site.

I play sax and occasionally guitar for a goofy prog group in Texas. A lot of people say it sounds like Zappa or Mr. Bungle, and although I wouldn't make that audacious comparison myself, it is very nice to hear that.

If anyone is interested in hearing it.

My friend and I are starting up an experimental type band, but I'm hoping to lean it towards the progressive side. I was previously in his metal band, and since I played keyboards he kicked me out cause he didn't like it. I tried making his music more progressive sounding, but he thinks inside the box too much.

Click on my member profile and then my homepage to hear my semi-proggy nujazz/live electronica band. The first tune is an updated tribute to early Pink Floyd.

I have a Cover band, well like all bands start. I hope one day we write some GOOD songs, though I doubt it. We play mainly covers of Deep Purple, Floyd, Led, Pescado Rabioso, and other classics.

I currently am searching for guys to play and write with, but for now unfortunately all I'm doing is writing stuff on my own, with a little help from my friend and bass player whenever he can spare the time.
