- Lina Wertmuller: Pasqualino Settebellezze is a masterpiece of the degradation of the human being and the power of the man to survive.
- Stanley Kubrick: Not exactly underrated, but will never get the credit he deserves.
- Ridley Scott: If it was only for Blade Runner, a very intelligent film he would still deserve more recognition, but we must add Alien I which is already a classic of Sci Fi and horror and Black Hawk Down.
- Ettore Scola

Joel Schumacher:
Started with a few teen-movies (St Elmos Fire,Flatliners & Lost Boys)
but since has made some good stuff:
John Grisham Thrillers and Batman franchise apart
(The Client & A Time To Kill-good popcorn entertainment) (Batman Forever(Val Kilmer & Batman And Robin-Clooney)
Falling Down Tigerland Both very good movies IMO. Phone Booth Veronica Guerin Both good.
plus two stinkers: 8 mm and Bad Company

I don't think Kubrick is underrated at all. For example, recently in Spain a newspaper has been giving dvd of his movies, so that means he is widly known and appreciated.
I agree Proyas is very interesting. Plus he co-directed my all time favourite video, Mike Oldfield's 'Magic Touch'.

The problem with Ridley Scott is that he had some mayor failures in the 90s (that Demi Moore thing, White Squall, the really boring Conquest of Paradise... Plus I don't find Gladiator THAT good. I still have high hopes for Kingdom of Heaven, though.
Scola is very good. I, in fact, choose films for a Spanish tv channel, and I'm doing a special on Scola soon with 4 of his films.
Thanks for the recommendation on 'Seven Beauties'. I haven't seen this movie, but I have a meeting today where I'll try to defend the purchasing of that one.
