So my band, Centaur Rodeo, released an album last year and were rather unhappy with the turnout. We weren't happy with our vocalist or the mix. So this summer, we remixed and remastered the thing without vocals, and in some spots added extra piano to fill the obvious voids.

The whole thing can be streamed here: http://www.last.fm/music/Centaur+Rodeo/Tongues+of+Flame

You can download low-quality mp3s for free as well, and soon it should be available at a better quality through iTunes, Amazon mp3 and the like, plus CDs. I'm sure the fine details of the mix get a bit lost in the format last.fm is using for the mp3s, but it should do for now.

The album is comprised of 3 songs: "Falling Through an Open Hand," an intro piano piece followed by some soundscapes, "To Trust Is Sometimes to Surrender," a 9-minute piece that's all over the place, and "Sparta," an 18-minute epic divided into 5 tracks, each representing a movement.

The main influences on this disc, I would say, are The Mars Volta, Dream Theater, Opeth and Coheed and Cambria. We draw our sound from many different artists and we continue to expand our sonic palette with our new material.

Please check it out and leave some feedback; it would be greatly appreciated.

Wow - nice.

With the vocal gone (would like to hear the original with vocal) I thought the guitar lead should have been louder to take over the melody. Lots of excellent harmony, but a little lost for melody.
