I love Yes's "Tormato". I understand that a lot of people don't like it for various reasons. Some hate the fuzzy effect that Chris Squire put on his bass. Others hate the fluffy Jon Anderson songs like "Circus of Heaven". Some hate it because of the cover.
I hear the complaints, but I still love "Tormato". I loved it when it came out and I still love it 30 years later. I think it rocks as hard as Yes ever rocked ("Don't Kill The Whale", "On The Silent Wings of Freedom") and yet also has some of their most exquisitely delicate and beautiful songs ("Madrigal", "Onward").
And man do I love "Release, Release"!
Personally, I prefer "Tormato" to "Relayer" and "Fragile", even though I know that's blasphemy to some. |
To be honest I listen to Tormato more often than I listen to Fragile. To me Fragile is ok, but there are albums that they have done that I do prefer and The YES Album is one of them. Depends on my mood. I guess I am just tired of hearing Roundabout all the time, great song that it is.

Sorry to sound against most of you above. But has anyone heard A Passion Play?

Well, Cacho, I guess A PASSION PLAY is ALSO in my top-3 of favourite JT albums. (On the other hand, I've never been able to enjoy TAAB, except in the condensed live version.) I know APP drags a little at times, but it's got so much to offer!
As for 'Teakbois' (on AWBH) - it's so silly I LOVE it!

ELP - Black Moon (very underrated)
PFM - Jetlag (gets low rating just because it's not a symphonic prog album, but a fusion one)
The Nice - Elegy (although a compilation, one of their best IMO)
The Who - By Numbers (most Who fans loathe this album, I love it for it's lack of 'rawk' bravura)
David Bowie - Outside and Scary Monsters are both hated by followers of the thin white duke, but I love 'em. (Whoops, Bowie ain't really prog is he ?)
