Amplifier is currently working on two new albums, titled "Mystoria" and "The Octopus". They are due to be released around the end of the year.
http://www.amplifiertheband.com/news.php I'm very curious to hear these now, I hope they don't end up being too similar to each other. |

I guess I'll give these a go. Heard the first two and wasn't sure what to think. The debut was very metalish, and the second was a bit of a step-up. Strange they are in the space rock section.

Where else would they be ... well, come to think of it, they might fit better in Heavy Prog, now that we have the category.

Would agree with the Heavy Prog definition.
Wonderful news - two new albums in one year from these guys. |

I enjoy the Space Rock qualities of Amplifier... often ; ] ("Post Acid Youth," "UFO's" "Airborne" ) But I can see them in Heavy Prog as well. |

def heavy prog for me.
didn't know there were two more albums on the way - i'm with you darkmatter, amplifier are a bit prone to a lack of variation at the best of times - although i must say that i LOVED the sound of the astronaut dismantles HAL.. far too short for my liking tho. it had a really crisp, 70' sound, especially on tracks like 'into the space age'... unusually, v nicely sparse for them (and completely UNspace prog ;0)). i look forward to them with interest! x |
