Which album do you think is better. With your classic rock point of view not prog.
I'll go for the great Machine Head.
Led Zep has a very good production but still I rather prefer Zep's II.

Machine Head has a much harder edge, but IV has more finesse, and more variation. Machine head has Lazy, though. Tough chouce, but i went with IV. :)

I love Deep Purple... and find them a hell of a lot more interesting than Zeppelin. That said... as great an album as Machine Head is... come on.. Led Zeppelin 4 is.... well... Led Zeppelin IV.

Voted for Zep. However, if I had to choose between LZ I and In Rock, then I'd be in a major quandary.

Led Zep IV. The Machine Head tracks on Made in Japan sound so much better than the studio versions.

Led Zep IV.
I like Deep Purple, but I could just never get into them as much as Led Zep or Sabbath....

Deep Purple!!! No doubt about that.
Deep Purple vs Black Sabbath is much more difficult question to awnser
But Led Zeppelin? Deep Purple just blows them away
LZ may have invented heavy metal but DP took it much further

Both are among my favourite records, but Machine Head has got something more.

hm, "Machine Head" has "Highway Star", "Space Truckin'", "Lazy" and "Smoke on the Water". "IV" has "Black Dog", "Rock and Roll", "Stairway to Heaven" and "When the Levee Breaks". so much for naming my favorite tracks from these albums. tough decision, but I'll go with "Machine Head" for the mother of riffs, "Smoke on the Water"
