Considering my favorite bad guy is Gary Oldman's police chief in 'Leon', my favorite good guy has to be Leon himself (superbly played by the incomparable Jean Reno) a brutally efficient assasin who loves his pot-plant, drinking milk, and the mafia boss who is ripping him off.

Other contenders:

Marlon Brando's Don Vito Corleone in 'The Godfather' - just your average family businessman.

Nicol Williamson's Merlin in 'Excalibur' - dotty old man and all-powerful wizard by turns.

Jude Law's Inman in 'Cold Mountain' - poor bugger, just when you think things can't get any worse, they do - but at least he got to 'have relations' with Nicole Kidman!

and of course....

Alannis Morrisette's tutu-wearing God in one of the best comedy satires of the last decade - 'Dogma' - proving for all time that God cannot do handstands.

Jon Lord 1941 - 2012

You guys had me going there for a minute. Apparently
"Leon" was released in the United States as " The
Professional". Excellent role for Reno. His total
disconnect with society, his total naviete' when it came
to money and relationships make him an anti-hero, in a
sense.
My favorite hero? Thermo-man.
