Funny you say that, I'm listening to Lament right now. Although I suppose that's a krumhorn.

Your best bet might be to contact the band members directly; they might be able to help you out.  Of course, it could be that there are no written parts to be had...  In which case, have fun transcribing those babies! ;)

I hear you!  I used to play oboe in high school, but gave it up for lack of continued interest.  If someone had introduced me to Univers Zero, Oregon, or some such group back then, things might have turned out differently. 

Edit to add: Heck, any wind instrument-using prog band for that matter-- if I had been aware of the possibilities, I probably would have continued playing...  Oh well.

A bassom can hardly be confused with a krumhorn; they sound completely different. For one thing, the pitch of a krumhorn is much higher and a bit nasal, while a bassoon remembers farts. There are krumhorns in several registers, but even those with lower registers sound completely different from a bassoon.
