   I have just finished reading Songs In the Key Of Z: The Curious Universe Of Outsider Music by Irwin Chusid.  It's devoted to artists who are firmly outside the mainstream or any kind of genre identification.  Not much of interest to prog fans, although it does have chapters about Captain Beefheart and Syd Barrett.  Mostly it's devoted to the real loners and "weirdos" of music - the Shaggs, Daniel Johnston, Jandek, Wesley Willis, Florence Foster Jenkins et al.

Anyone else know about this?  It's a fascinating read, and it's piqued my interest about a few artists.
