Writing Music

I told her, however she wants to, the most important is that the chords play in the back, and even that isn't important. So she played them as whole notes. And I told her to play something on them to make it sound like music but she had no clue. I've actually seen quite a few splendid players being tought by jazz musicians, mostly to compose and to improvise. I can't believe how hard it can be to those who only know the notes in front of them :)

kind of makes me glad my teacher was into jazz as well as classical and prog and other forms. i've found that a lot of strictly classical players have no clue as how to improvise or compose and although they can play tremendously difficult classical pieces, which i respect, i have more respect for people that can write their own material.
