   Many progressive rock musicians recieived formal music training prior
to embarking on their explorations into rock. I can think of more than
a few musicians off the top of my head who integrated classical
stylings into their compositions, sometimes literally "stealing"
themes. Which composers do you think had the most influence on these
young adventurous musicians back in the formative years of progressive
rock?

	I think in general most progressive musicians were classical trained or at least influenced .

	Mussorgsky for ELP's interpretation of Pictures At An Exhibition. Rimsky-Korsakov for Renaissance's Scheherazade. Bach for Ian Anderson's version of Bouree. Bach for inspiration for Rick Wakeman's Six Wives Of Henry VIII. Many others. Chopin's and Beethoven's piano sonatas. Edited by Possessed

	I know Varese was a huge inspiration for Zappa.
