I feel for you Scott, Wings definitely let that one slip away last night.  But the Pens can't expect to be so outplayed and have Fleury bail them out like that again.  So one-sided except where it counted.  Credit to the Pens also holding off the Wings in the first OT, the way Detroit was playing I expected the Cup to be rolled out in short order.

Thanks Pat.  They did show the keeper of the cup polishing it up and getting it ready, but alas it wasn't to be yesterday.

I found out yesterday that Brian Rafalski's father works in the same building that I do.  The guys in the cafeteria said that he was in this morning and pretty upset with the loss (obviously).  I know that Rafalski is a local boy so it would be pretty cool if he brought the Cup over to his dad's office on his day with it (hopefully he does have a day with it!).  Probably won't happen but it would still be pretty cool to get a chance to see it up close and personal.  I have seen it at the Joe in prior years and also a couple of times in Toronto at the Hockey Hall of Fame (probably the duplicate).

NOOOO! The Penguins are losing! Damn you, Detroit!

Oh well. Hopefully next year, my two favorite teams ever since I was little, the Maple Leafs and the Thrashers (I live in Atlanta, and Kovalchuk is my favorite hockey player) will actually suit up and play better...

Would you like some Bailey's?

The Wings did dominate much of the game, but the Pens had some moments. It'll be interesting to see who is able (if either are after a triple overtime) to come out flying Wednesday Night.
The other point is whether Osgoode regains his composure as he seemed iffy at times.
Oh, by the way, did you notice that the worse the Pens play, the more Fleury handles the puck behind his net. And not always successfully, for those who saw Saturday's game.

Ozzy definitely didn't play his best game last night.  Fleury was definitely the Penguin's saviour last night, although giving up 3 goals in a playoff game is generally not advised.  Both goalies got some help from the hockey gods last night in the form of crossbars, goal posts, and gravity.  Datsyuk could have had a few goals last night, and Samuelson, Franzen, and Holmstrom all missed golden opportunities for getting the puck into wide open nets past Fleury, but instead shot the puck into him or kept it on the ice instead of lifting it over him.  I really can't see the Penguins beating the Wings twice more given how much better the Wings look, but anything can happen in ice hockey.

Fleury scared me in OT when the puck went over his head, hit the crossbar and landed on top of the net.He didn't have track of that shot at all,he was still looking for it when it had already landed behind him.

Congratulations to the 2008 Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings.  What a game last night!!!!  They held on and won that game by the skin of their teeth.  Reminds me of the Super Bowl from a few years back where the guy was tackled at the 1 yard line as time expired.

Congrats to the Red Wings...  a source of inspiration for all the old f**kers out there LOL.. age and experience does trump youth and vigor

Pens had a great season!  can't wait for next year.

The game was good, but I'd agree the pens were definitely outclassed.  It would have been a miracle if they pulled it off.
I was kind of pissed at the crowd last night when they booed the wings when the cup was brought out.  seriously pittsburgh, way to show the world we've got class... Ermm

Monday's game was incredible though.  A good portion of the city called in sick to work the next morning. LOL

This was one of the best stanley cups in recent memory. I hate the red wings but I knew they were going to win because the just outshoot everybody they face. I think if pittsburgh can keep the core of their lineup together and resign marian hossa they have to be considered the favorites next year.

Well the Pens will be the favorite in the East most likely, and I think the Sharks will be the favorites in the west...again.

Well at least you didn't say the Avs would be the favorite. Wink

LOL after Theo's goaltending performance against the wings, they're far from the favorite. Nevertheless, they're still my favorite, and in my own head, I think they'll win every year LOL
