As soon as I come to the forums, my computer becomes very slow, but as soon as I exit the PA tab, it comes back up to speed. Also, every couple of seconds I have a window popping up saying "You have chosen to download the application Ads" and asks me to download it.
My question is, is it just my computer or my connection being a dick, or is it a problem with PA? And if it is just me, then any suggestions? |

A pop-up perhaps, due to spyware or adware ?

But only on PA? Nowhere else? And I think I have sufficient spyware protection...

Don't use the Microsoft Internet Explorer ... that software is evil! ![]() |

You may have spyware protection, but not script protection ... use Firefox and the NoScript plugin (and Adblock, naturally). ![]() |

I use that. But, like I said, it's all cleared up now.

I have a similar issue, usually after being on PA for 45 minutes to an hour. Pages will load very slow and invariably the status bar says that it is trying to load something from Burstmedia ads. I refuse to lower my security settings (which I'm sure is the problem), so I just reboot when it gets tiresome and go grab a drink.

Therein lies the rub. The administrator of the site has chosen to
litter the site with ads of the worst kind. Do we allow these
malicious pieces of software to infiltrate and violate our machines to
help support the site? Successful installs means moooore money. Or do
we dole out advice to block these ads, circumventing their purpose?
Really, it would be much better to not have them at all. I simply can't get behind a site that would allow this sort of thing to run rampant. Surely there must be a better way, there are many sites that are self-sustained -without- malicious, detrimental, -invasive- advertisements. These spyware ads originating from the site are unethical.
