I just found a couple of Italian records on sale among them a double CD of
Pino Daniele `Studio Collection `EMI` ( 1977-1980) :  nice Blues influenced Italian songs, sung in Napolitan dialect. Apart from one ``love song`` dedicated to Napoli, I can`t understand the lyrics, but I really like his blues feeling his voice especially in slower songs and the nice 70`s instrumentation.

Tadpoles keep screaming in my ear
"Hey there! Rotter's Club!
Explain the meaning of this song and share it"

Pino Daniele used to be a member of the Naples-based JR band Napoli Centrale - he played bass on their 1977 album "Qualcosa ca nu'mmore". So, as with Fossati, there is a prog connection, though his later career went rather in the direction of jazz- and Mediterranean-inspired blues. Napoli Centrale's leader, sax player James Senese, has been a frequent collaborator of Daniele's.

He usually sings in the Neapolitan dialect (which I understand, though not perfectly) rather than in Italian, and his music is indeed very good. Highly recommended to those who want to explore Italian music which is neither prog nor the usual, boring melodic pop.
