In light of the recent addition to the site, which Pete Townsend rock opera do you fancy?  Mine goes for Quadrophenia, though a quick one while he's away isn't far behind.

Quadrophenia, don't be tricked by the Tommy supporters.

Tommy was a revolution, but Quad was the perfection.

He did! Townshend released a 6 CD set to celebrate the conclusion of Lifehouse, on his own Eel Pie Label in 1999 - BBC Radio Three broadcasted Lifehouse in 1999.  However, a rough version of Lifehouse was performed at London's Old Vic Theatre in the ealry 70's. However, it  wasn't an rock opera, rather Pete Townshend wrote a futurist play with accompanying music

Also suggest you don't do what I did, try to find Townshend's back catalogue on the web by spelling his surname Townsend....... That Peter Townsend was Princess Margaret's lover in the late 50's!

I voted for Quadrophenia, my favorite album of all-time. The others are great too, though. I adore Endless Wire and Tommy.

To repeat for the 4th time in PA ,The Lifehouse Project is complete and available as a 6 CD set since 2000 from Townshend's own label Eel Pie Records. It was performed in rough draft at the Old Vic Theatre in the early 70's and the complete version on BBC Radio 3 in 1999 (the recording makes up 2 of the discs of the 6 CD set). It is not strictly a rock opera, rather Townshend always had the concept of a theatrical play with music.

BTW what happen to Townshend's interpretation of Ted Hughes Iron Man?

Tommy is an amazing piece but ok it's the 60's sound. I rather prefer the movie..... Quadrophenia is much greater and may be considered prog.
