"The Thing on the Doorstep" - Lovecraft's short story collection is delightful, and quite funny in places. Ditto "The Call of the Cthulhu". "At the Mountains..." wasn't as good as these.

I also loved "The Langoliers" by Stephen King. What a wonderfully crazy idea that book is based on.

Is Thomas Ligotti any good?

Not a horror novel, but I will admit I am actually too chicken to play any of the Silent Hill games, especially part two.
