Good band and great harmonies. If you have their greatest hits album Phil Hartman of Saturday Night Live designed that. His brother managed both them and Poco, to which he was art director for many albums. As talented as he was funny.

NS,
I'd go with a recent greatest hits package they released on Rhino (I believe) a couple of years ago. Blue cover and the America logo looks as if it was etched in glass. Has all of the 'hits', but other songs, as well. A lot of them, too.
"Daisy Jane" is a beautiful song. Really like his voice.

After reading a couple of nice reviews of thair last cd,I bought it on I-Tunes.Got the studio album + the live cd for the price of 1.
Never heard much of their stuff before except a few of their hits.I must say I was pleasantly surpriced.Nice and mellow.
May have to get a hits package now.

Non-compilation wise; Start with their sophomore album, Homecoming.Next,go backwards to the Neil Young influenced
debut, America and lastly, IMHO the fourth album Holiday. If you notice, other that the debut album, all of their albums (70s-early 80s) begin with the letter H.
This post was brought to you by the letter 'H'...'h'

Do 'The Stanley' otherwise I'll thrash you with some rhubarb.

Very good group for just kicking back and letting the stress of the day go.... Nice and calming. My only wish is that they had never even considered recording "Muskrat Love."

The only album I really love by them is their flawless debut. So I'd say its the perfect place to start. It has Sandman and A Horse With no Name. The rest I've heard is a bit too slick for my tastes. I think compilations are always a bad idea.
