Just out of curiosity-
What images do you see when you close your eyes while listening to music? I tend to see something almost like sheet music, each note as a dot, small or large depending on how loud it is. And colors- each instrument has a different color: guitars are silver, hammond organ is usually brown, flutes are yellow, bass is always black. Synths can have any color. The lead in Tom Sawyer- definitely red, while Xanadu is yellow. Pads and Strings fill in a background color. Behind all these notes flash quick images of the instrument itself and the artist playing it. Am I the only one seeing this? Am I off the deep end?

Some people are synaesthesists, who see colours or shapes when hearing music, others have tactile impressions or perceive smells. A famous example for synaesthesia is Russian composer Alexander Scriabin. An example of a musician of today who is a synaesthesist is classical pianist Hélène Grimaud.
