Topic: Yes/ABWH Tournament round 3 Run-off Posted: February 15 2007 at 13:06 |
Much to my Chagrin...Round 3 ended in a tie between what I consider 2 very strong albums.....but that's the way the cookie crumbles......
Run-off to end at 12:30-ish (EST) on Friday 2/16....

I don't want to choose......so I won't.
It beggars belief that CTTE is here at all. This is a Prog site still isn't it?

man if I had voted for CTTE it would already have been gone
CTTE gets my vote. 90125 is a much better album, hell I'd take "Leave It" over CTTE as a whole

A horrible turn of events this is.
DO YOU ALL REALLY THINK TORMATO IS BETTER THAN EITHER OF THESE ALBUMS???
Sorry for yelling, im sooo coonfused. Talk... yawl like that better than these two? god I'm confused.
Video Vertigo, I like 90125 very much myself. Leave it being one of my favs but I can't take it or any other over And You and I. ALthough I would choose It Can Happen, Leave It, and Cinema over Siberian khatru. So do you like older Yes less in general or just CTTE?
Glad I'm not the only one that thinks this is a hard one. Nice to know others can appreciate old and middle yes evenly. :) A couple votes for Tormato would have avoided this whole debacle. I'm not voting yet, I'm really confused.

Honestly, given the popularity of CTTE, I have no idea why it is getting as many votes as it is, and video vertigo seems to be the only one who is willing to give any justification for voting for CTTE. I think people aren't taking this tournament as seriously as some of us would like. I certianly don't mind if CTTE (or any other album for that matter) gets voted out, so long as it's because people actually feel it is the worst album left, and not because it's the most popular. If it were up to me I'd only count votes that are posted in the thread, but it's not up to me.
And, for the record, I do believe that Tormato is a better album than 90125. In fact, aside from Circus of Heaven (which I think might possibly be the worst Yes song ever recorded), I quite enjoy the album.

My favorite Yes albums are The Yes Album and Fragile. I like pretty much all of their albums I've heard, but I think that CTTE and Relayer are my least favorite. Specifically CTTE because I think it is the weakest album for Jon Anderson, it's very hard to enjoy lyrically and the vocals as a whole. It is also the worst Chris Squire album, I have listened to CTTE over 50 times trying to figure out why its so highly rated and it just upsets me each time.

50 times... well we can't say you didnt try :) I guess I can't really remember any Squire riffs from CTTE so maybe you have something there. For me Some of Jons most memorable cadence is on And You and I.
Rubidium I gotta admit the worst Yes song ever is why I'm voting for Tormato all the time. Not that I judge the whole by the one song but I never remember enjoying anything on this album. Ive only heard it about a dozen times ( im not as persistant as V.Vertigo) But two people saying something positive about it will make me spin it again. I'll do back to back 90215/Tormato. At best I may move it to #2 worst spot. Doubt it though.
Going to vote for 90215.

It would be somewhat ridiculous to vote off the album that is number one in the PA Top 100.

doesn't spring to mind, of course I know it well when I hear it but I can't recreate in my head without a cue. I can hear much of the guitar and keys and singing in my head with no external audio reference But can't conjur up any bass :( Guess I better go listen to it.
