Topic: Acoustic/Electric Amp Queston Posted: January 07 2007 at 23:41 |
just out of boredom, i was wondering if it is possible to play an acoustic/electric through a regular electric amp? or if you strictly have to use acoustic amps?

no you can use either type. acoutic amps theoretically just sound better for acoustics than electric amps do, but either amp will work.

thats what i thought. i kind of knew that acoustic amps would sound better, ideally, but im also wanting to play distorted through my guitar as well.

yeah, it'll work just fine. if you distort an acoustic it might sound strange, but it will still work as well. i wouldnt worry about buying an electric amp though. at least on the less expensive models there probably isnt a big difference anyway.

yea well, i saw a video of.......City of Delusion i think, from Muse, and Matt;s using an acoustic throughout the song, so that got me thinking that it may not have to have the acoustic amp and pedals to get the sound i want.
yea, itll probably sound ok, not amazing, but it would be more for backing up the actual electric guitar during parts where i need to be electric.
