Very diverse and multicultural. Anyone saying they don't get prog in the west in the USA should check this 4 day fest out in the middle of March 2007.

Bands signed so far (no line ups yet):

Cast (Mexico)
Proto~Kaw (USA)
Mar de Robles (Chile)
Flor de Loto (Peru)
Satellite (Poland)
Fromuz (Uzbekistan)
Tony Levin (USA)
RPM Rudess/Morgenstein Project (USA)
LAZULI (France)
RPWL (Germany)
Univers Zéro (Belgium)
RITUAL (Sweden)
INDUKTI (Poland)
Naikaku (Japan)
Ain Soph (Japan)

Great lineup so far. My only wish is that they add Prog Metal band to make it even more diverse. I´ve been going for the past 7 years since it´s only a two hour drive for me.
Check the website www.Bajaprog.org instead of WWW.Bajaprog.com .

Garion will you be there?

^ You bet.  Smile
I am going for P-K and the Fromuz who I am most familiar with but I bet I get happily blown away by a few others.  Do they usually have a Prog metal band there because these others seem like a great diverse lineup.

For what it's worth, the sound of Peruvian ensemble Flor de Loto includes some elements of prog metal in their most energetic tracks: "Negativos de una Memoria Inexistente", "Medusa", the stronger sections of "Madre Tierra" and "Libelula".

   Kind ragrds.

Not to mention that Indukti are a prog-metal band, and a very good one at that.

WOW!

One of my country's most promising band in prog, Flor de Loto, playing alongside Rudess Morgenstein Projec, Tony Levin, and so many other figures of prog!

Good job guys, keep it up!

Bryan,

I'm unfamiliar with Indutki and was not aware that they are prog Metal, what album do you recommend by them?

Maybe what I should have said is I would like to see a more recognizable Prog Metal act, Symphony X, Pain of Salvation, etc.

Hey Garion,

Maybe we can get together with some other progarchive members at BajaProg? Fancy that?

They've only got one, 2005's S.U.S.A.R... it's outstanding and vey King Crimson influenced, there are also guest vocals provided by Mariusz Duda from Riverside on a few tracks (though a lot of it is instrumental).

Also Nearfest and Rosfest are in Pennsylvania.  I mean it would be a bit of a road trip but nothing like the west coast.
