Topic: Easter Eggs/Secret Messages Posted: January 21 2005 at 07:22 |
Following on from Frenchie's thread about the messages/booklets that Radiohead hide on ther CD's, I wonder if anybody out there knows of any other easter eggs/secret messages lurking within their record/CD/Video/DVD collections?
Here's a few well know ones to begin with:
The famous or infamous 'Endless/Nameless' track that lurks at the end of Nirvana's 'Nevermind' (it appears after a few minutes silence)
Black Sabbath - The Mob Rules: A personal message from the band to Ozzy. Located in the center of the bottom of the cover is a message from the members of Black Sabbath. Written in blood or (red Paint) is the inscription "Kill Ozzy". The word kill is in the rocks and the word ozzy is just below it and to the right. |
On the "30th Anniversary Edition" of King Crimson's 'In The Court Of The Crimson King (not the LP or the original CD print). Open up the CD case. On the inside there is a black tray that holds the CD in place (like on most standard jewel cases). If you remove this, you will find a picture of the band a message from Robert Fripp, the band's guitarist. This is not the most interesting message, but it is still a very odd place to leave a message.
Any others?

Hmmm...
Should we get into the numerous "secret messages" - on album covers, in lyrics and elsewhere - regarding the "Paul is Dead" scenario? Uh-oh, I think I just opened a huge can of worms...
Peace.

No? Do tell...
By the way for those ELO fans out there. Do you know the hidden message on 'Face The Music'?

If you listen very close at the end of Los Endos you can hear Phil Collins sing "There's an angel standing in the Sun, it's time we get back home". I remember Phil saying they did that as tribute to Peter Gabriel.

I just hid some Easter eggs in the garden.
Always fun, hope I can find them again when I go out and search them.

Regarding the Court... thing, does anybody know if it was actually meant to be hidden? or if they just forgot to put a clear case on it?

Mike Oldfield included the "statement" f**k Off to Richard Branson on either "Amarok" or "Music From The Balcony" (I forget which) in morse code. I think one can say that they were not firm friends at the time.

Don't know..
They've put all the 30th anniverseries in the same jewel case.. I guess that because its only at the court of.. that it's meant hidden....

If your company uses Citrix MetaFrame software, and you are able to run administrative commands from a cmd prompt (if you don't understand what that means then you probably can't), then type : query citr!x.
Scroll up, and my name appears among the 300 or so others...
The software comes on a CD - does that count?
