Topic: Hi from Oregon Posted: November 26 2006 at 05:49 |
All right, I'm new. I'd love to post a missive about all of the prog I've gotten into, but I don't have much on my prog resume yet.
I'm 31 and got into Floyd in my late teens and early 20s. I never cared for Rush or Yes, but it's worth noting that I probably haven't heard the best either has to offer -- especially in Yes' case.
I do like some of the newer prog stuff, such as Explosions in the Sky and Godspeed You Black Emperor. But I just recently decided to dive head-first into the world of prog. My first purchase of something previously foreign to me was Eloy's "Ocean," which I like pretty well. The only flaws, to me, are the dated sounds and the heavily accented vocals. But I see it as a good starting point, and I'd like to hear some similar things. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Welcome.
You're not leaving.
Ever.
Hmm, if you're a PF fan and like Eloy, maybe you should try RPWL next?
Enjoy the site .

I love it here. Too bad I'm about to move to Washington, although that's a pretty cool place, too.

Oh yeah, Washington is great, too, I just like Oregon culture. Plus, I collect knives so it's a great place because the knife laws are the best in the country.

Stands to reason. One of my best friends' brother is a knife salesman.
