My initial impression of the album "Genesis Live", acquired in a budget bin for ~ $1.99, I believe back in ~ 1976, was of curiosity resulting from the concert photo on the front cover.  "This looks different" i recall thinking and this provided my motivation to check out this group called Genesis.  Their albums from the Gabriel/Hackett era remain some of my favorites.   I saw them live after Hacket left during their "Duke" tour.  It was good, but I recall being somewhat disappointed in not hearing all my favorites from their "prog" era.

What a thrill then in 2006 to discover this group caled the "Musical Box" coming to my area and performing a reproduction of a Genesis "Foxtrot" era concert with exacting detail.  Based on the description, I plunked down ~ $40 for the ticket without hesitation.

Frankyl, my expections were so high that I expected a good chance of being dissapointed.  I was not.  These guys delivered to the tee!  What a thrill to hear almost all the great Genesis prog classics from Trespass/Nursery Cryme/Foxtrot era rendered with such skill and attention to detail in both arrangements and visual and spoken presentation.

If you are one of the many Genesis fans that have raised the group to such high stature on the Prog Archives sight, and "The Musical Box" comes to your area, you must see them.  Do not wait.  They will not be doing this forever.  You could miss the vintage prgressive rock concert experience of a lifetime.

Saw them in New York City yesterday... they told us it was their 500th show.  This is what they played...

-The Knife [Encore]
-The Musical Box
-Watcher of the Skies
-Horizons
-Supper's Ready
-Dancin With the Moonlit Knight
-I Know What I Like
-Firth of Fifth
-The Battle of Epping Forest
-The Cinema Show

It was UNBELIEVABLE.  I went with very high expectations and they blew me away.  I'm reminded of a clip I saw with Mike Rutherford saying that they were "better than the real thing."  That's not too much of a stretch...

On January 29th 2007 I will see The Musical Box during the SEBTP tour in The Hague, Holland Approve I have seen TMB four times, amazing, awesome, outstanding, mindblowing ...Clap They do it perfect, only the singer his voice is a bit more high-pitched but his story telling is excatly Peter Gabriel (they use a lot of footage from bootlegs) Thumbs Up
