Yeah, so in October last year there was a Prog festival about 20 minutes from where I live. There were a few bands there I haven't heard of, although IQ played there which was pretty cool.

There were also a lot of people from places like America, Norway and Sweden which was a big surprise.

I was looking around on the website about getting in contact with the person running it, hopefully I can get my band there this year (if they do another one which is likely).

Just thought I'd share that with you all.

Discuss.

Valarius, you live in Prog central - was this festival in Peter Gabriel's back garden?

Whats your band called and who are your influences?

I live in Devizes, Wiltshire.

Festival in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

Studio in Box, Wiltshire (I think... about 20 minutes anyway).

Unfortunately, there isn't really much of a prog following here. The person who ran the festival was in a prog band himself, which is why he did it. Like I said, there were a lot of non-UK people there, but very few people were from Wiltshire.

My band is called... wait for it... VALARIUS!

We're influenced by Dream Theater, Savatage, Yes, Stratovarius, Metallica, Megadeth and a few others.

Fortunately, every other band around here is either punk, emo, nu metal or garage rock or whatever you wanna call it. So we're hoping to use our uniqueness as a means of success.
