You could try the lyric generator here - http://www.evolutionwriters.com/.
It does have a progressive rock option but I haven't tried it myself.

Read some "proper" literature AND Sci-Fi, look at life in an interested, analytical yet poetic way, enjoy playing with words and their meanings, have several things you feel very strongly about, forget about it all and just write the first things that come into your head - as if you were having a conversation with someone but in a poetic form.

Only write about stuff that really affects you - here's one set of mine (not as an example of how to do it, but to illustrate what I'm getting at);

INDUSTRY (copyright by Certif1ed)

Clock in, clock out and work it on out,
Follow orders, jump around and hear the man shout
Your inbox is full and the phone is glowing red
The customers are a%^&holes and the boss is off his head

Didn't I just do this twenty minutes ago
But with somebody else who simply doesn't know
What he's spent his money on, he got suckered by our con
He's lost a million dollars, when all is said and done

And then I get a call from somebody new
To the company's way of thinking - so we sell them a clue
And then another, because we don't mind
Them spending all their money to buy our precious time

And when times are getting hard, the share price is going down
Just lay some people off to ease the accountant's frown
We buy in staff from abroad - it's cheaper over there
And we panic when it all goes wrong, our problems have suddenly squared!

We don't invent nothing, 'coz we ain't got a clue
We just look around for someone who's made something new
And if people will buy it and we like what we see
We like it so much, we buy the company...

I had to Google the name David Brent - I watched 5 minutes of the office and they were among the longest in my life. I find Ricky Jervais to be the most unfunny "comedian" I've ever witnessed... Oddly enough, I do work very near to Slough

Thanks for your comment on our MySpace site - and for the additional thumbs-up here. BTW, We've already got 3 or 4 albums worth of material, so it says a lot that we think "Monkey" is the best

I note we've also got support from none other than the Hoff himself now - world domination is getting closer by the day.

By 2999, we might just get there
