Need help identifying...

Can anyone identify the artist/band in this song?:

I got this off a mixtape called AEIOU 2 and have been searching out the
original ever since. I realize this is not necessarily prog-rock as much as
it would be considered psych-rock, but I figured this board seemed to be
full of informative people who know a lot about rock music in general and
may actually know who the band is. If anybody could help out then that
would be fantastic.

Extra useless info:

I've posted this same clip on different message boards and things and the
only answer I got was from someone claiming it to be the band Spirit, but
after I asked him what the album and song titles were, I did not get an
additional response. So after searching online music stores and music
directories, listening to 30 second samples of most of Spirit's songs, I
could not find anything that resembled the song I was looking for. But I
noticed the lead singer in the clip does sound an awful lot like Spirit lead
singer Randy California. Needless to say, I listened to Randy's first and
only pre-1976 solo album and the song in question was definitely not on
there, either. Perhaps it was some sort of Spirit B-Side which wasn't ever
released on CD? I'm starting to get the idea I was put on the wrong track
altogether. But it's really the only lead I got.

Anyway, I've almost given up on finding it and I thought I'd see if anyone
here might know what it is. I just need the artist name, song title, and
album title. Many thanks to anyone who can put me on the right track.
