Of course you're serious - makes much sense too. I mentioned more than one year ago (shortly after the album was released) that the chorus from these walls reminds me of Linkin Park.Thumbs Up

The progression of the chords is actually from a Linkin Park song called "From the Inside", or it might be moved up a step or two, but the point is, the higher guitarline (that consisted  of three notes, cuz they're Linkin Park, dammit) is comparable to Rudess' keyboard parts. How do I know this? I used to listen to them a few years ago.....Embarrassed (those days are long gone though)

It should come back. From The Inside pwns. listen to Linkin Park.

Ouch

solitary shell - Sagrado Coraçao da terra

No, I believe Dark Tranquillity was meant.

Oh. Right then. Cause all I could think of was Court of the Crimson King (complete with an RF). Heh. Please someone get that.

Don't get me wrong... I like DT, but it seems, that they rip off alot of old prog thinking, that their fans haven't heard it before. Sometimes it's very VERY obvious.

You've just had a heavy session of electroshock therapy, and you're more relaxed than you've been in weeks.

I think Trial of Tears by Pink Floyd, Honor Thy Father by Rage Against The Machine, Pull Me Under by Queensryche, I Walk Beside You by U2.

Mixed up with a good deal of Shine On You crazy Diamond

I agree with most of the other suggestions (These walls playable by Linkin Park is pure genius!)
Anna Lee is a mix between Queen and Elton John!
The spirit carries on could have been extracted "as it is" from The Final Cut or Amused to Death

If Pink Floyd can play "Octavarium" I'd be a fan.  Pink Floyd couldn't play anything but the first minute of that twenty four minute masterpiece.

Queensryche couldn't play/compose any of DT's matierial.  Dream Theater plays on a whole different level.

Tool?  They could play fragments of "The Great Debate" and "Home", but the songs as a whole are definately only possible from Dream Theater.

If all of these bands could play these songs, maybe they should have wrote them.

I agree with LossforWords to some extent
.
Queensryche would be able to cover songs like Pull me Under, but I can´t see them pulling off stuff like Metropolis.
Pink Floyd aren´t nearly technical enough to do DT covers.

For the more technical (or complicated) covers I would say Angra, Symphony X or Spiral Architect.

(We aren´t talking about composing songs, we are talking about doing DT covers)
