I am usually very cynical. But try it! For the love of Prog!

I am a ARDENT believer in putting crazy mathematical hiddenness
in music.

TRY IT.
When 900 years you reach, look as good, you will not.

Just kidding. I'm a big fan and after buying an album I always try to use programmed play on my audio system to figure out better tracklists. I'll try it right away!

Bored, I tried it about a year ago.  Boring as f**k, not worthwhile, and certainly not "holy".

omg, that sounds crazy

i wouldn't call it holy gift though .... even if it's true

but it's kindof interesting in my opinion, i don't share this "it's just the music that counts" attitude. If bands really manage to make their albums even more complex by this kind of stuff, I'd appreciate it, unles they forget to make their actual music sound complex as well

actually if you think about it there are more clues to take in to factor.

if this spiral thing was deliberate, it woulda taken a long time to make right. this cud explain the 5 year gap between aenima and lateralus. and they have been writing a new album for years as well.

i think they might have tried something like this on aenima and failed, which had a 3 year gap between the previous album. tool write very complex and perfected albums.

one thing i did notice was aenima introduced the use of bridging tracks... eg intermission, useful idiot, message to harry manback, die eier von satan, - ions, cesaro summability. these tracks were used to link together the previous and next track. eg they wud be stuck inbetween 2 of the main long tracks. this techinique didnt flow too well on aenima yet was perfected on laterlus

the grudge and the patient were bridged perfectly by eon blue apocolypse. the same goes for mantra, parabol, disposition. they all kept the flow going to make the album seem like one everlasting piece of music rather than a collection of songs.

they obviously spend a hell of a lot of time writing their albums so the band have a lot of time to perfect techniques so this holy gift is quite possible

Remember in another thread where someone mentioned how Tool is really just doing all of this to f**k with people and make them come up with dumb ideas like this one?

My love of mathematical mysticism is second only to my love for nu-metal. Where does one go to exchange the Holy Gift?

HOLY CRAP, though. Geez, geez, geez. I haven't heard Tool yet, trust me, it's on my list of stuffs to get. Right now I'm plowing thru the older prog, with some prog metal here and there. But I shall listen to Lateralus, and then maybe I'll get it...

Thought you were more grounded than that Pingu!
This is just mumbo-jumbo for people with too much free time on their hands.
It could all be designed as the guy says it is-but so what. The music is what counts.

I don't actually like Tool at all... Sorry!  Altho I've met Danny Carey a few times and he seems nice enough.
